Summary: Over the last few years “on site” mineral processing with mobile or semi-mobile machines, especially crushers and screens, has increased sharply. In future, this form of flexible and economic processing of all types of raw materials will grow substantially in importance in sorting too. To accommodate this trend, RHEWUM GmbH has developed the MobiSort mobile optical separator. In this article, the concept and the possible applications for the MobiSort are described.
1 “Mobility” as a megatrend in mineral processing
According to Horx [1], around five megatrends are currently accompanying us. A megatrend is defined by the fact that it permanently accompanies human development. One of these five megatrends is mobility. We can already clearly see its influence in mineral processing.
